4 week old dingo puppy at the Dingo Discovery Research Centre, Victoria, Australia. Sadly, the dingo has suffered the same fate as the grey wolf by coming into conflict with graziers, and becoming a convenient scapegoat for profit losses. As such the dingo is under severe threat due to concerted and ongoing efforts to eradicate them, and by hybridisation with domestic dogs in some heavily populated areas. Dingoes are currently considered threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), but it has been largely left up to sanctuaries like this one, to fight for the protection and future of the dingo. #‎dingo #puppies ‪#nature #‎wildlife‬ ‪#‎biodiversity‬‪ #threatened #naturephotography #australia #visitvictoria @australia @wildscreenorg @environment_victoria @ausconservation

A drink for Dinky. Dinky, is a premature baby Grey-headed Flying-fox (Pteropus poliocephalus) that was found on the ground in January with his umbilical chord still attached. It's estimated that when found, Dinky was about 2 weeks premature. Taken to a vet and then to an expert bat carer, a month later, Dinky is doing just fine. All going well, Dinky will be released back into the wild when older and stronger in about 3 months, or maybe sometime after winter. #bat #greyheadedflyingfox #flyingfox #fruitbat #mammal #flyingmammal #megabat #pup #baby #bottlefed #keystonespecies #wildlife #urbanwildlife #melbourne #victoria #australia #nature #naturephotography @ilcp_photographers @nature.pl @flybynightbatclinic @batsqld @lubeebatconservancy @ausbatclinic @shoalhaven_bat_clinic @wingspawsnclaws @ausconservation @wildscreenorg @wildlifevictoria @environment_victoria

Here’s looking at you kid. A young orphaned wallaby and kangaroo joey ‘hanging out’ on the back porch of a wildlife carer and vet nurses home in Queensland. The specially designed frames and ouches they are in are built to mimic their mother’s pouches. The vet nurse (Sonya) who house it is, cares for both wallabies and kangaroos that have been left homeless or orphaned until they’re ready to be returned to the wild. For more images and information about the important work that wildlife rescuers in and carers such as Sonya do, you can go to my blog at http://gimesy.com/galleries/photo-documentary/caring-on-the-front-line/ #animalwelfare #rescue #care #animalwelfare #wildlifecarer #caring #compassion#marsupial #mammal #Queensland #Australia #wildlife #tree #conservation #biodiversity #ausgeo @natgeocreative @ilcp_photographers @wildscreenorg @australiangeographic @bbcearth

Vital for forest pollination. A rescued grey-headed flying-fox pup, Pteropus poliocephalus, feeds on the pollen of a flowering native #eucalyptus tree. This species is vitally important for native seed dispersal and gum tree pollination – in effect they serve like bees for many Australian forests. They feed on over 100 species of flowering trees and fleshy-fruited trees and liana, and many rely on them for their survival. In a single night, a flying fox can travel over 40 kilometres in a night, pollinating trees and spreading seeds as it goes. A single flying fox can disperse up to 60,000 seeds in one night. They are listed as #vulnerable under the #IUCN with key threats including #habitat #destruction, camp disturbance, #heat stress, #entanglement in backyard netting, #electrocution on power lines, and climate change related impacts (and there are a few). #flyingfox #fruitbat #mammal #flyingmammal #greyheadedflyingfox #gumtree #pollination #blossom #IUCN ‪#nature#‎wildlife‬ ‪#‎biodiversity‬‪ #naturephotography #Australia #climatechange #heatstress #lovespecies18 @flybynightbatclinic @ausconservation @environment_victoria @natgeocreative @wildscreenorg

🌿 Happy Monday 🌸 . I’m quite sure I heard you all say that you need more baby Numbat photos to help you get through Monday morning. Well, I’m here to help! . Tag someone that you’d like to make smile, today 💚 . This baby is around 6 months old, at the time of deposit in a nest after being permanently attached to its mother’s teat since birth. It will remain dependent on her for around 5 further months before weaning and dispersing to find its own territory (note- this is what happens around July, this year’s babies are still much smaller than this) 🌿 . 📷: @perthzoo . . . . . . . . . . #perthzoo #numbat #babyanimal #marsupial #justanotherdayinwa #seewa #travelwa #australiananimal #nativespecies #breedingprpgramme #zookeeper #zoolife #keeperlife #conservation #conservationartist #artworkinspiration #ykyazkw #endangeredspecies #threatenedspecies #savethenumbat #wildlifelover #savewildlife

Looks like it’s a busy day at Daddy Day Care 🐦 @jacquibarkerphotography spotted this super dad taking his 30 chicks for a casual stroll in @southaustralia’s #CoffinBay National Park, where wild #emus are a pretty common sight. Located 45 minutes from @port_lincoln in the @eyrepeninsula, this national park is a scenic #wildlife haven that’s packed with lush bushland, high windswept cliffs and pristine sandy beaches. Fun emu fact: The emu father is always the sole parent of the chicks. After laying her eggs, the mother leaves the Dad to incubate the precious parcels, and then care for the little ones for up to two years. #seeaustralia #seesouthaustralia #eyrepeninsula #coffinbay #travel #wildlifephotography
